Heirloom Tomato Orecchiette – 450g


As the calendar turns to July and the heat goes up, Ontario tomatoes start to fall off the vine.  Fortunately for us, some of them landed in our summery orecchiette.  After being lightly smoked, giving them a meaty flavour, they are tossed with orecchiette pasta, torn basil and globs of gooey mozzarella di bufala.  Simple, light and delicious!



Ingredients: Pasta: Orecchiette (durum wheat, water, liquid whole eggs), Heirloom tomato, Olive oil, Garlic, Salt, Basil. Smoked tomato sauce: Summerhill's own tomato sauce (tomato concasse [chopped tomatoes [sulphites], tomato juice, citric acid], onions, olive oil, tomato paste, salt, garlic, basil), Butter [milk], Salt. Buffalo Mozzarella. Basil.


Oven: Preheat oven to 375F. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until product reaches internal temperature of 165F. Do not exceed 400F. Remove cover with caution and avoid escaping steam.

Microwave: Pierce film. Microwave for 3-5 minutes. Remove cover with caution and avoid escaping steam. Stir product. Microwave further for 1 minute.
